Using propensity score to create an equivalent comparison group ( Last revised : 12 / 4 / 2012 )

چکیده
Background: It is often the case in research that groups of interest represent a small number of records or have other distinct characteristics. For example, the group may consist of those with extreme values (either high or low), such as Opioid problem users (Subramaniam, Ives, Stitzer, & Dennis, 2010), or have other unique characteristics such as those who are deaf or hard of hearing (Titus, 2008). There are several ways to adjust for these size and characteristic differences. One that has garnered a great deal of interest and use in recent decades is the use of a propensity score to either weight the control group or create a matching algorithm so that the control group more closely resembles the treatment group or to select a matching subset.

An Application of Non-response Bias Reduction Using Propensity Score Methods
Normal distribution is widely used in many applications. The problem of testing whether observations come from a normal distribution has been studied extensively by many researchers. Our main goal in this article is to present a simple test procedure for testing multivariate normality.

Inflation targeting framework has become a predominant monetary approach across the globe. Williams (2015) believes that in a very real sense, almost all economies are inflation targeters -either explicit or implicit- now.(1) Due to the increasing spread of this policy, it is necessary to consider the way it affects macroeconomic variables. using prevalent economic models for evaluating the eff...

متن کاملUsing propensity score-based weighting in the evaluation of health management programme effectiveness.
When the randomized controlled trial is unfeasible, programme evaluators attempt to emulate the randomization process in observational studies by creating a control group that is essentially equivalent to the treatment group on known characteristics and trust that the remaining unknown characteristics are inconsequential and will not bias the results. In recent years, adjustment procedures base...

PURPOSE To apply propensity score matching to Ahmed glaucoma drainage implants (AGI) to trabectome-mediated ab interno trabeculectomy (AIT). Recent data suggests that AIT can produce results similar to AGI traditionally reserved for more severe glaucoma. METHODS AGI and AIT patients with at least one year of follow-up were included. The primary outcome measures were intraocular pressure (IOP)...
